PRESCHOOL PROGRAM

Our Preschool Program runs Tuesday through Friday, with two options: a 9–11:45am class, or our Extended program from 9am–1pm. The 9–1, four-days-a-week option is a great fit for children heading into full-day Kindergarten the following year. The program welcomes children aged 3–5.

Following the Reggio Emilia approach, our topics emerge from educators' observations of the children. Educators set out different provocations for children to investigate, analyze, and question, and through watching how children engage with these materials, they build a picture of the children's interests. From there, educators bring in materials and explorations, whether art, music, science, math, or social studies, that respond to what they've observed.

Educators think carefully about the many facets of each child, knowing that children learn in different ways. Activities are designed for visual, auditory, and kinesthetic learners, as well as for both more outgoing and more reserved children. Beyond the activities themselves, children are active participants in their own learning through large and small group discussions, where they're encouraged to ask questions and listen to each other's ideas about the topics at hand. Because the environment plays such a large role in learning, materials and experiences are refreshed frequently to keep children engaged and curious.
