Welcome to Bright Eyes Academy! I am the Owner and Founder of Bright Eyes Academy Child Care Centre’s. We have been serving children and families of Delta since 2006.

I have been working with children in varying capacities since 1990, such as, camp counselor, peer tutor, coach and ECE educator in daycare’s, preschools and school age programs. I also have an extensive background working with children and adults with Autism Spectrum Disorder. My qualifications include, my ECE Certificate and License to Practice obtained from Capilano University in North Vancouver BC. Prior to obtaining my ECE certificate I studied business and marketing at Capilano University. Through my many years in the field I have obtained many certificates and attended many field related seminars and conferences. I feel strongly that learning is an ever-changing on-going

A little bit about me

I have been happily married to my wonderful husband since 2000. We are very fortunate to have three beautiful girls. My family and I have lived in Ladner since 2004. We love living in Ladner especially for the great sense of community! When our family is not busy with school and work, we spend lots of time at the hockey rink and at gymnastics competitions! We also love taking our trailer out to many beautiful campsites throughout BC.

Me and Childcare

Ever since I was a small child I had the desire to care for and teach young children. I always had great games and activities planned for my sister and our friends. I am the older of two girls in my family so I was often left responsible for my younger sister and cousins, not to mention the neighbourhood babysitter! I was always actively involved in sports, such as, basketball and volleyball and often mentored and coached younger grades in school. I was an active volunteer within schools and community programs in my youth. When I completed high school it was obvious to me that I wanted to work with children. I always dreamed of having my own “school”, this is what prompted me to take business and marketing prior to taking the ECE program. From there, Bright Eyes Academy Child Care Centre’s was established in 2006. I am extremely proud of my successful business and the quality of care and education, myself and my staff, provide children and families of Delta!

I have had the opportunity to work with so many children and their families of different ages and cultures. Every child is unique and grows and learns in their own way. I enjoy meeting every child and learning about, who they are, where they come from, what they know, what they want to learn and most importantly what they want to teach me! One of my favorite projects that I had the honour of working on was with a group of preschool children ages 3 and 4. They were very interested in planting and growing. We the teachers, provided them with many means to explore this topic in the classroom, outside in the yard and in the community. To end this project the children, teachers and parents worked together to plant a garden in the play yard with both flowers and vegetables. This was several years ago and this garden today grows the biggest sunflowers that I have ever seen!

Conclusion
I believe in the Reggio approach to educating children. Children know so much and have so much to offer all of us and the world that we live in. Taking the time as an educator to really “listen” to children has given me some of the most rewarding experiences provided endless opportunities and has inspired me to continue to learn and grow as an educator. On behalf of Bright Eyes Academy, we take pride in offering programs to the children and families of our community and invite all of you to come and join our family in the journey of early education.
