I am hard working and responsible. I work at the Holly Location in the Infant and Toddler Program and my qualifications include: My ECCE certificate and a diploma in Special Needs and Infant and Toddler care.
A little bit about me: I am the oldest of four children; I have two sisters and one brother. I have a daughter named Ciera she is five years old and she will be starting Kindergarten in the fall. Originally I lived in Bella Coola with my whole family and now me and my parents, Ciera and some of my siblings live in Vancouver. I really believe in family. I have a huge family with many cousins, aunts and uncles. I try to see them as often as I can. I travel either to the island or up to Bella Coola for long weekends to see all of my cousins. On my time off I enjoy going for hikes in local parks around the city, and swimming. Both Ciera and I love doing things together may it be inside or out!
Me and Childcare: Working with the infants and toddlers is so rewarding because we get to watch the children explore and discover different things in their world. We also get to help them learn how to cope with everyday situations that arise, such as sharing or waiting for a turn to play with a toy! My favourite part of the day is when the children first arrive in the morning and they come in and they are genuinely excited to be at school for the day and most are excited to come in and say “Hello”. Another fun part of working with the infants and toddlers is when they are able to say your name and their own names and they start to talk a lot more about different events throughout the day that they observe. It is very interesting see their world from their point of view. Working with the Reggio approach is interesting because we as the teachers are able to see what the children are interested in, and not only explore with them but come up with ideas to expand their interest and knowledge in that topic. The most interesting topic or experience for me working with the infants and toddlers is exploring Mac Tac at art time, the children are so interested in how things stick to the Mac Tac and that if you stick an object to the surface of the Mac Tac you are able to pull it off and move it. It seems that the children feel free to change their minds. I also love the fact that the children work together, almost as if they are one! The other thing that I love doing with the children is singing songs with them because they are all interested in the songs we sing and they want to be apart of the singing and dancing, quite often singing brings the children together, they will either dance with another or sit beside each other, you can really see their enjoyment.
Conclusion: I have always had a passion for children; I started babysitting my cousins at a very young age. I feel that I have a lot of compassion and care towards children of all ages and I truly am invested in what is best for them and what they are interested in!
